    Duals of variable exponent Hörmander spaces (0<pp+10< p^- \le p^+ \le 1) and some applications

    In this paper we characterize the dual \bigl(\B^c_{p(\cdot)} (\Omega) \bigr)' of the variable exponent H\"or\-man\-der space \B^c_{p(\cdot)} (\Omega) when the exponent p()p(\cdot) satisfies the conditions 0<pp+10 < p^- \le p^+ \le 1, the Hardy-Littlewood maximal operator MM is bounded on Lp()/p0L_{p(\cdot)/p_0} for some 0<p0<p0 < p_0 < p^- and Ω\Omega is an open set in Rn\R^n. It is shown that the dual \bigl(\B^c_{p(\cdot)} (\Omega) \bigr)' is isomorphic to the H\"ormander space \B^{\mathrm{loc}}_\infty (\Omega) (this is the p+1p^+ \le 1 counterpart of the isomorphism \bigl(\B^c_{p(\cdot)} (\Omega) \bigr)' \simeq \B^{\mathrm{loc}}_{\widetilde{p'(\cdot)}} (\Omega), 1<pp+<1 < p^- \le p^+ < \infty, recently proved by the authors) and hence the representation theorem \bigl( \B^c_{p(\cdot)} (\Omega) \bigr)' \simeq l^{\N}_\infty is obtained. Our proof relies heavily on the properties of the Banach envelopes of the steps of \B^c_{p(\cdot)} (\Omega) and on the extrapolation theorems in the variable Lebesgue spaces of entire analytic functions obtained in a precedent paper. Other results for p()pp(\cdot) \equiv p, 0<p<10 < p < 1, are also given (e.g. \B^c_p (\Omega) does not contain any infinite-dimensional qq-Banach subspace with p<q1p < q \le 1 or the quasi-Banach space \B_p \cap \E'(Q) contains a copy of lpl_p when QQ is a cube in Rn\R^n). Finally, a question on complex interpolation (in the sense of Kalton) of variable exponent H\"ormander spaces is proposed.J.     Harmonic publication and citation counting: sharing authorship credit equitably – not equally, geometrically or arithmetically

    Bibliometric counting methods need to be validated against perceived notions of authorship credit allocation, and standardized by rejecting methods with poor fit or questionable ethical implications. Harmonic counting meets these concerns by exhibiting a robust fit to previously published empirical data from medicine, psychology and chemistry, and by complying with three basic ethical criteria for the equitable sharing of authorship credit. Harmonic counting can also incorporate additional byline information about equal contribution, or the elevated status of a corresponding last author. By contrast, several previously proposed counting schemes from the bibliometric literature including arithmetic, geometric and fractional counting, do not fit the empirical data as well and do not consistently meet the ethical criteria. In conclusion, harmonic counting would seem to provide unrivalled accuracy, fairness and flexibility to the long overdue task of standardizing bibliometric allocation of publication and citation credit

    Clinical features and natural history of the first 2073 suspected COVID-19 cases in the Corona São Caetano primary care programme: a prospective cohort study.

    BACKGROUND: Despite most cases not requiring hospital care, there are limited community-based clinical data on COVID-19. METHODS: The Corona São Caetano programme is a primary care initiative providing care to all residents with COVID-19 in São Caetano do Sul, Brazil. It was designed to capture standardised clinical data on community COVID-19 cases. After triage of potentially severe cases, consecutive patients presenting to a multimedia screening platform between 13 April and 13 May 2020 were tested at home with SARS-CoV-2 reverse transcriptase (RT) PCR; positive patients were followed up for 14 days with phone calls every 2 days. RT-PCR-negative patients were offered additional SARS-CoV-2 serology testing to establish their infection status. We describe the clinical, virological and natural history features of this prospective population-based cohort. FINDINGS: Of 2073 suspected COVID-19 cases, 1583 (76.4%) were tested by RT-PCR, of whom 444 (28.0%, 95% CI 25.9 to 30.3) were positive; 604/1136 (53%) RT-PCR-negative patients underwent serology, of whom 52 (8.6%) tested SARS-CoV-2 seropositive. The most common symptoms of confirmed COVID-19 were cough, fatigue, myalgia and headache; whereas self-reported fever (OR 3.0, 95% CI 2.4 to 3.9), anosmia (OR 3.3, 95% CI 2.6 to 4.4) and ageusia (OR 2.9, 95% CI 2.3 to 3.8) were most strongly associated with a positive COVID-19 diagnosis by RT-PCR or serology. RT-PCR cycle thresholds were lower in men, older patients, those with fever and arthralgia and closer to symptom onset. The rates of hospitalisation and death among 444 RT-PCR-positive cases were 6.7% and 0.7%, respectively, with older age and obesity more frequent in the hospitalised group. CONCLUSION: COVID-19 presents in a similar way to other mild community-acquired respiratory diseases, but the presence of fever, anosmia and ageusia can assist the specific diagnosis. Most patients recovered without requiring hospitalisation with a low fatality rate compared with other hospital-based studies
